Lawrence C. Korchnak, Ph.D.
Dr. Korchnak is a Distinguished Educator and consultant with the Pennsylvania Inspired Leadership Initiative for PDE. He was formerly Superintendent of the Hampton Township School District, a National Blue Ribbon School District. He is a member of the State Advisory Board for Student Assistance Program for of Pennsylvania, the Tri-State Area Schools Study Council and is President of the Pennsylvania ASCD Western Region.
Dr. Korchnak is an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh and a guest lecturer at several local colleges universities on School Law. He was a member of the faculty at Penn State Beaver in Counselor Education, Educational Administration, and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. He shares years of teaching and counseling experience as a Staff Development trainer, Student Assistance Program trainer, and consultant on educational matters.
Dr. Korchnak presents at local, state, regional, and national conferences. He conducts workshops and seminars on a variety of educational topics including Assessment, Standards, School Law, and Special Education. He is a Leadership Trainer and trainer in Conflict Mediation, Student Assistance, Clinical Supervision, and the Instructional Skills Model. Over the years he has been active in Student Assistance, Aftercare, Elementary and Secondary Instructional Support, Behavior Management Support, Teaming, and Instrumental Enrichment.
A graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Korchnak acquired his teaching credentials at St. Vincent College, obtained his M.S. Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from Duquesne University, and earned his doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Korchnak has been honored by a number of educational and civic organizations. His biography is included in the Marquis Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Education. Dr. Korchnak is active in a number of professional associations, including ASCD, PASCD and PDK. His most recent publication, Case Law and Common Sense, A Guide to Pennsylvania School Law is used as a text in more than fifteen Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities.
